610 Bedford Drive – I'm an American

(610 Bedford Drive – I'm an American)

Michaela Ronzoni

The play is set in Franz Werfel's home-in-exile in Los Angeles. It centers on the lengthy and bitter dispute which Werfel had with the all powerful American Theater Guild about changes to his latest play "Jacobowsky and the Colonel".
„Ronzoni's play depicts Werfel's struggles against totalitarian ideologies: the evils of Nazism in the Old Wolrd and the all-engrossing commercialism of the New World.“
